Local law enforcement authorities have stumbled upon a human trafficking ring involving nationals from the South Asia Republic of Nepal.This follows the recent discovery of several Nepalese nationals who were being held in hostage like conditions at Mabaruma in the North West Region of Guyana.The discovery of the Nepalese is cause for major concern for the Ministry of Home Affairs, which in a statement issued yesterday, said that its policy is to take strong and decisive action against any person(s) involved in Trafficking in Persons.According to the Ministry,NBA Jerseys China, the large numbers of Nepalese travelling to Guyana and their purposes for travelling is being closely monitored ever since intelligence was obtained that from October 14 to 17 last year, a group of 14 Nepalese Nationals – 10 males and four females – were encountered in Mabaruma, Region One, holed up in two hotels.According to the report, the majority of these individuals were housed in the Tourist Resort Hotel with their rooms padlocked from the outside.Further, the hotel operator refused to reveal why the doors were locked in such a way.Adding to the suspicion, was the fact that these individuals reportedly did not know when they were scheduled to depart Mabaruma or Guyana for that matter, and claimed to be tourists but did not engage in tourist related activities.More revealing was the fact that the Nepalese nationals were not employed in Mabaruma, yet their rooms were paid for in cash each day, using US currency.Following this discovery, 12 Nepalese Nationals were arrested at the Charity Police Station, Essequibo Coast on December 4, 2014 and charged with Illegal Departure.The 12 had initially arrived in Guyana legally in the month of November, 2014.According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, four of them were granted a two- week stay in the country, while six were granted three weeks,Jerseys NFL China, and two, one month.
