A Transport (Deed of Title) went missing the night that‘ Robb Street Drug Store Owner, Harold Rachpaul was robbed and murder.This information was brought to the fore, when witnesses took the stand in the High Court, yesterday. OrvinMurdered: Harold RachpaulRoberts, a minibus conductor, of ‘C’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, is on trial for Rachpaul’s murder before Justice Navindra Singh and a mixed jury.According to reports, the 84-year-old man was reportedly found gagged, bound with an electrical cord and strangled in his apartment located behind Rachpaul’s Drug Store, on Robb Street Georgetown.? He related that he locked up the big dog, but left two smaller dogs in the yard.The man said that he returned to the premises around 8:00 am, the following day.? There, Rachpaul said that he made the gruesome discovery; his father was found wrapped up like a mummy with a sheet and cord wrapped around him. The witness said though that his son was the first to enter the premises and make the discovery.Rachpaul recalled that he was closing the gate behind when he turned around and his son (Vincent) came back running towards him saying, come see what happen to grandfather. Rachpaul said that not only was his father bound, he had a black and blue mark to the head.? The locks on the doors were open and the safe, which contained money and other valuables, was also open.? The items,Air Max 97 Black Leather, including a deed of title were missing.The witness appeared nervous as he recounted the events. He fidgeted during questions by the Prosecutor Narissa Leander and Attorney-at-law, Nigel Hughes.?? Questioned about his disposition, Rachpaul told the court that he suffers from anxiety attacks.He further told the court that no one else had access to the keys for the house or safe except himself, his father, and his son.? Under cross examination by Defense Counsel Nigel Hughes, Rachpaul told the court that before he secured and left his father’s business place, he left the dog Jesse in the yard.? The lawyer then confronted him with statements, he made in his evidence in chief.? Hughes reminded Rachpaul that he told the court that he had locked the dogs away before leaving.The businessman told the court that he could not remember. He blamed his conflicting responses on his lapse in memory.?? He explained that his father told him to lock-up Jesse, who was reportedly a “good guard dog” but later told him to release her in the yard before leaving.Rachpaul said that he released the dog before leaving but when he returned the next day, Jesse was locked inside her pen.? He agreed that no one could have controlled the dog except, himself, his father or his son.? The witness admitted too that no (stranger) could have entered the premises without having to deal with the big German shepherd.The witness told the court that his father was not very social and would seldom have visitors.In response to questions about the alleged home breakage, Rachpaul accepted that besides his father, only himself and his son had access to the keys for the safe and the house.Hughes then suggested to the witness that the crime might have been an inside job.? “No way” Rachpaul blurted in reply. The witness then told the court that family members would have nothing to gain from committing such a crime.Nonetheless, Rachpaul admitted that among the stolen items was a transport.? He told court that his father was the owner of more than one property, but he owned none. The witness said however, that he was satisfied to have been employed in his father’s pharmaceutical establishment.Further questioned, the businessman said that he was never questioned by the police about his whereabouts, the night his father was killed.? He said that the police only took his fingerprints; they never questioned his wife or other relatives of his whereabouts the night the crime was committ
