While Cox was named Overall Best Performer, Noel was able to claim Best Performer in Business Studies.Both Cox and Noel’s achievements are new for Guyana.The two,Undefeated Air Max 97 White, together with the country’s four top regional CSEC performers – Shannon Woodroffe (Most Outstanding in Science), Joshanna Hopkinson (Most Outstanding in Humanities), Victoria Najab (Most Outstanding in Business Studies) and Aliyah Rasheed (Most Outstanding in Technical-Vocational Studies) – are slated to travel to Belize towards the end of November to attend the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC’)s Regional Awards ceremony.Cox however is expected to be in the spotlight in Belize where CXC is expected to ‘wine and dine’ the regional top performers.But the 18-year-old, who will be celebrating his 19th birthday next month (November 7th to be exact), is yet hopeful that he will be granted permission to attend the auspicious event in Belize.Cox is currently attending the University of Edinburg in the United Kingdom where he is pursuing studies in Informatics. He secured six Grade Ones and 1 grade three respectively.The young man who hails from North East La Penitence, Georgetown, also secured CAPE passes in seven subject areas last year and he’d credited his success to “all the people who helped me.”The QC boy soon after learning of his performance this year said that he was excited about his performance and disclosed that he already had plans to pursue studies in Computer Science at a tertiary institution overseas.He however told this publication, during a brief interview via facetime during the past week, that he is hopeful that he will be granted the privilege to take time off from University to travel to Belize.Although he hadn’t yet received travel arrangements, as at the time of his interview with this publication, he did intimate that he is anxiously waiting an official release that will allow him to attend the CXC ceremony.Speaking of his performance at CAPE and the fact that he has been named the regional top performer, the young man of few words said “I am honoured to receive the award,” as a slight grin formed on his face. A sniffle and polite cough followed; symptoms of a cold he has.Though he has been battling the cold for a few days now, he however appeared focus and ready to take on whatever academic adventures university life brings his way in pursuit of his higher education goal.He however does not consider himself a genius but rather he prefers being called “a bookworm with a lot of free time.” Who would have thought?
