The prosecutor stated that the man came to a stop when he arrived at his destination. It was disclosed to the court that the man after hearing the gun shot drove away. They claimed that investigations into the matter indicated that? Angus had been involved in the crime. The court prosecutor subsequently asked that the man be denied any bail, citing the difficulty the police had experienced in locating Angus. He further referred to the fact that if the accused be granted pre- trial liberty he may very well not return to court.Defense Counsel Vic Puran said that indeed Angus was hired by the men and that he drove away when he heard the gunshot. Puran said his client had no previous knowledge of the robbery and that his client was not placed on an identification parade. The lawyer claimed that Angus was in fact told by the police that he would be released after 72 hours but was instead brought to the Magistrates’ Court without his knowledge. The lawyer stated that there were no facts presented to the court to remand the accused man. This was subsequently refuted by the prosecution who told the court that the man had given a statement of his involvement in the incident. He further claimed that no caution statement was available to the court at the time but he was linked to the matter by virtue of the caution statement.Puran told the court that his client was arrested and charged because he did not want to be a witness in the matter. He later asked the court to grant his client bail in a reasonable sum.The Magistrate later ordered that the caution statement be available at the next hearing. She further posted bail to Angus in the sum of $100,000. The man will appear at the Mahaicony Magistrates’ Court on November 1.
