By this year the administration had invested some $200M, he added.He said that the government wants to develop President’s College but it has to rationalise the use of the limited resources.He also lamented the shortage of specialized teachers adding that the government is training persons but losing them to migration and to different sectors.Baksh spoke specifically to the shortage of teachers of Pure Sciences at President’s College and challenged the Board of Directors at the institution to locate a person to fill the gap.He said that once he is satisfied with the qualifications and experience he will appoint that person.He said that for the nation to move forward there is a greater need for students to start pursuing the pure science subjects such as Chemistry and Physics especially with the pursuit of the Low Carbon Development Strategy.Speaking to the naysayers again, this time as it relates to the dilution of caliber of students at the institution, Baksh said that while all and sundry will not be allowed access into the school the administration has moved away from allowing just the performers in the top two per cent pointing out that more persons should be allowed access to the high quality of education being offered at the school.He said that when the school was first opened in 1985 just 65 students were allowed entry but at present there are in excess of 500 students being offered a high quality of education.Speaking directly to the graduates, Baksh said that a secondary education was important to them in that it opens new horizons for them and benefits the country as a whole given that they will be able to positively contribute to the development of the country.He did lament the inequality of the level of education offered,Cheap Jerseys Wholesale, pointing out that the level of education offered at the school is way above what is offered at other secondary schools.This, he said, must be aggressively addressed.
