The National Commemorative Commission, a unit of the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sport, with responsibility for organizing Guyana’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, is now accepting entries for the Jubilee Song Competition.A press statement issued by National Commemoration Commission official Wesley Dowers informs that the competition seeks to select a song to drive the Independence Celebrations. The song should primarily capture the spirit and the essence of the festivities, be popular with the people, and possess the quality to live on beyond the Jubilee Celebrations.The Jubilee Song Competition is a 50th Independence Anniversary activity and will run for two months. The competition is open to all Guyanese citizens and other persons residing in Guyana for a period of no less than four years prior to the closing date for submission of entries.
