, the females during their stay here had assisted him in the preparation of Brazilian cuisine for their countrymen who form a large part of the work force in Guyana’s interior.Shortly before their permission to stay had expired, the women contacted their attorney Coddett ,with a view to assisting them to extend their stay in Guyana.It was while they were on their way to the city to finalise the arrangements that they were arrested.Kaieteur News understands that the women were forced to hand over $10,000 to the arresting ranks with the hope that they were going to be released to pursue their appointment with the Ministry of Home Affairs.This was not the case and the women were transported to Georgetown where they were placed into the custody of the police at the Criminal Investigations Department, Headquarters, Eve Leary.According to Coddett, he contacted a senior detective at Eve Leary on Monday but by then arrangements were already in train to have the women placed before the court.In court, the three women were fined $30,000 each and the Magistrate ordered that they be deported.
