The 56-year-old was last seen at her brother’s house at Lot 55 William Street, Campbellville, on December 26, 2007.The woman was reported missing after neighbours noticed something was amiss and raised an alarm.On January 6, 2008, her body was found by police ranks; her ankles were bound and her body wrapped in sheets before it was tossed into the septic tank. Forrester was allegedly strangled and beaten to death with a pestle (mortar stick) by her nephew and his friends.In his unsworn testimony, Tyndall essentially blamed Hope for the murder. The accused told the court that he saw Hope standing over his injured aunt with a piece of wood.Testifying under oath, Hope, however, told the court that he had nothing to do with the murder.? The cross examination highlighted a number of variances in the statements provided by the accused.Prosecutor Goodings specifically asked the accused about his relationship with one Cedric Cummings, called “Shallow,” his schoolmate who was said to be staying at the house at lot 55 William Street, Campbellville at the time.She put to the witness that he and Cummings, an employee of King Scorpion Sound System, would host parties at the house, without his aunt’s approval.Hope, in response denied knowing anyone by that name. He explained that he could not have told the Magistrate anything since he was not allowed to speak at the preliminary hearing of the trial.During his testimony the accused had related that his aunt and the Elder would usually get into loud arguments over him. He said that as a result, he would leave the premises and go to his sister’s house because the arguments made him uncomfortable.Given this statement, the Prosecutor suggested to Hope that he had lied about the relationship his aunt shared with Elder Smith. Goodings suggested that the relationship the two people shared was that of a Pastor and congregation member.??
