The accused was granted bail on July 11 by acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, but this was later overturned by Justice William Ramlall in the High Court.During Hinckson’s last appearance, his lawyers raised the issue that their client’s life is in danger and there are forces that want to hinder the outcome of the case.Attorney Nigel Hughes had also asked that his client be given his pre-trial liberty, but the prosecution had objected to bail being granted on the ground that the crime is a serious one.Since Hinckson’s incarceration, their have been calls by many prominent members of society to have him released. Hinckson has been imprisoned for the past six months.
