However, the number of people that should have been employed was not.CautionMeanwhile, Ramroop in announcing that he has withdrawn his offer to take over the Bourda facility, in a not so subtle threat said, “The principals of the Limacol brand would caution those that would continually deride those from the business community that seek to develop their companies and in so doing benefit the country.”Dr. Ranjisinghi ‘Bobby’RamroopAccording to Dr. Ramroop, the proposal submitted was to construct a world class stadium with all its amenities and would have returned international cricket and football to Georgetown along with an economic resurgence.He claimed that the financial structure of the proposed endeavour would have ensured that GCC and GFC share in the profits generated, which would have enabled these clubs to return to their glory years.LeakedOn Friday last, a proposal by New GPC to gain management of the facilities of both grounds, was leaked by upset officials of both GCC and GFC.New GPC is a company whose principal, Dr. Ramroop, and which has been heavily criticized for a number of lucrative government contracts and deals.At yesterday’s meeting the members of both GCC and GFC unanimously voted to reject the proposal made by Dr Ramroop.The proposal dated two weeks ago, said it was interested in building a US$30M stadium, and conducting similar business as the Guyana National Stadium, located at Providence, East Bank Demerara.Ramroop, in his proposal, made it clear that the lands on which Bourda and GFC are on, are leased and belong to the Government and that there is nothing legally stopping him from taking it over.In addition to Tests, One Day Internationals and T20 cricket games, the Providence stadium which was built for the 2007 World Cup, had been making money from renting its facilities for shows featuring local and international artistes.Ramroop was proposing that his new stadium, which he would construct, using the two grounds, will be hosting cricket matches, in the different formats. Ramroop wanted a piece of the action with the international shows also.Bourda has been on the decline after international matches were moved to Providence.Expensive Real EstateBoth the Bourda and GFC grounds are located in one of the city’s most expensive real estate hubs — between Regent Road and North Road.The two grounds stretch an entire block between the Shiv Chanderpaul Drive and Vlissengen Road.Ramroop’s previous questionable dealings include several concessions; five radio frequencies and a television licence.NICIL Boss, Winston BrassingtonHe is now poised to be granted permission to take a piece of the telephone industry.
