A 23-year-old man was yesterday granted bail on a charge of obtaining money by false pretence and attempting to commit a misdemeanor.The accused, Colin Boyce, of Good Intent, West Coast Demerara, appearing at the Georgetown Magistrate Court before Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, on March 9 last, allegedly obtained $70,000 from Nandanie Ramana after telling her that her electric meter was faulty and that he was in a position to fix it, knowing this to be false.The charge was indictable and the accused was not required to plead.It is also alleged that on March 6, the accused, with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of $180,000 from Nandanie Ramana.The accused was represented by defense counsel,Cheap World Cup Jerseys, Patrice Henry, who in his bail application, said his client has been co-operating fully with the investigation form the beginning of the matter and was released on his own recognizance.He further asked that bail be granted in a reasonable sum.Ramana told the court that in the first instance, Boyce and another man visited her home and informed her that they were from GPL.She said that not having any knowledge about electric meters, she believed that she had a faulty meter and that she would be taken to the police station for questioning.The woman told the court that at the time she was caring for a toddler with whom she was home alone.
