Although she is only five years old this marked the second heart operation for Pholmaitie Singh. Her first surgery was done two years ago which was facilitated by another organisation. And according to Jeanette Singh, the young lass will require to undergo yet another heart operation in about a year’s time in order to have a conduit inserted to help sustain her throughout the remainder of her life. The local Ministry of Health also rendered financial contribution as well as those who supported a fundraiser in Toronto last month. Support was also forthcoming from Mann Travel of Brampton, Ontario, who arranged the Toronto to Delhi portion of the journey.Since its inception in 2005, the Three Rivers Kids Foundation has successfully helped 81 patients from Guyana obtain life-saving treatment in India. The foundation is managed by volunteers and has a very hard working committee that organises many fund-raising events throughout the year in order to raise funds to help primarily children. There are many children from Guyana who are still on the Foundation’s waiting list, Jeanette Singh noted. It is expected that another group will be taken for treatment by the end of this year. Those desirous of finding out more about the Foundation can visit it
