His wife sustained injuries to her hips and shoulders, while Blair suffered a laceration to the scalp.The victims are members of the From the Heart Ministry, and had just left a church meeting at the Guyana Legions headquarters when misfortune struck.However, Dr. Gopaul claimed that he was driving behind Loncke when he was forced to swerve from two minibuses and crashed into Loncke’s vehicle.Dr Gopaul was still at the scene when Kaieteur News arrived, and smelled of alcohol.However, he denied that he had been drinking.Police traffic ranks escorted both men to the Brickdam Police Station.Gopaul was allowed to drive to the station.Kaieteur News was told that a senior police officer then instructed the traffic ranks to release Gopaul on his own recognizance.It is unclear whether he took a breathalyzer test and what the results were.
