The curtain came down last evening on the dancing aspect of the annual Children’s Mashramani Competitions (Georgetown leg).The National Cultural Centre (NCC) was packed to capacity with screaming school children representing various schools across Georgetown. The costumes were dazzling,Alexander Nylander Jersey, and the choreographies were brilliantly executed.Jasmine Callender during her winning performance in the ‘Interpretive’ categoryShortly after 10:00hrs, the day’s activities commenced with performances from students 11-13. This was a continuation of the previous day’s programme. It saw Latonyah Asim, representing North Georgetown Secondary, placing first prize with her individual piece under the ‘Social Commentary’ category.In the Legends and Traditions category for the 11-13 individual dances, St. Winefride’s Secondary School student, Tieanna Barker was the winner.The ‘Religious Beliefs’ category saw Ziya Rambarran, representing St. Rose’s High School, copping the first position. Jasmine Callender gave the best performance in the ‘Interpretive’ category, representing Charlestown Secondary School.Each year, entries into the masquerade category are limited, and 2014 was no different. Yesterday’s competition saw only two masquerade bands performing in the 11-13 category. Lodge Secondary School gained first position over North Ruimveldt Secondary.Then there was more dancing. Declared the winning group in the 11-13 age category,Cheap Atlanta Braves Jerseys, was Tucville Secondary School with their ‘Legend and Tradition’ inspired dance. The group representing North Georgetown Secondary School was also able to convince the judges that they deserved the first position in the ‘Interpretive’ category.In the 11-13, a Christ Church Secondary group did justice to a much anticipated ‘Social Commentary’ piece titled- “Eight Period Tun Up,Cheap Adidas NHL Jerseys,” followed by the second place group from St. Joseph High School with their “In de Streets” dance.There were many group entries into the ‘Religious Beliefs’ category, but securing the top position was North Georgetown Secondary School.In the 14-17 age group, Lisa Walcott from the South Ruimveldt Secondary School received the first place trophy for a piece titled- ‘African Tradition Lives.’In the Individual Interpretive category, Shanika Khan secured first position, while Khrista Christian of North Georgetown Secondary placed first in the Social Commentary dance.Karisma Charles of Richard Ishmael Secondary School gained first position for her performance in the ‘Religious Beliefs’ category. Her school also secured top positions in three categories of group dances. These include the area of social commentary, Interpretive, and Religious Beliefs.The Brickdam Secondary School group pulled off an entertaining Soca pieceSt. Joseph High was adjudged the top school in the Hip Hop category,WBC Jerseys 2017, with South Ruimveldt Secondary emerging victorious with its Legend and Tradition inspired dance. Lodge Secondary secured first position in the Masquerade group.Under the theme,Nike NBA Shop, “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44,” the Children’s Mashramani Competitions will continue today with the costume segment,2018 NFL Draft Jersey, which is booked for the Cliff Anderson’s Sports Hall.The children’s competitions are being organized by the Department of Education.
