An 18–year-old man from 17th Street Diamond Housing Scheme was yesterday remanded to jail for the death of Rayaad Khan,Cheap Soccer Gear, the young man who was fatally stabbed in the chest with a broken glass bottle.Christopher Da Silva is accused of killing Khan on June 28 at Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara. He was not required to plea after making an appearance before Magistrate Leslie Sobers at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.He was represented by Attorney-at-law Maxwell McKay who provided the court with the teen’s particulars,Adam Oates Jersey, requested an early date for the preliminary inquiry (PI).The magistrate later sought to explain to the young man the court procedures. He explained the process of the PI and the circumstances that could lead to his standing trial at the High Court.The prosecutor later asked for a three-week delay in the matter since they would like to send the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions to get advice about proceeding with the case.
