The family of former Chancellor of the Judiciary, Justice Kenneth George, and members of the judiciary are mourning his death. Justice George died early yesterday morning at the St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital after a period of illness. He was 79.Family members confirmed his death yesterday and issued a brief statement with the promise of providing more details at a later stage.Former Chancellor George served as Guyana’s Chief Justice before taking over from Justice Keith Messiah as Head of the Judiciary.He was awarded the Order of Roraima and the Cacique’s Crown of Honour for his service to the judicial society.He obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1951 and his LLB (London) three years later.
