Int’l Year for People of African Descent…Government is planning a mega celebration for the International Year for People of African Descent in the first half of October. This is according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon.At his post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday at the Office of the President, Dr. Luncheon said the event and cultural activity, which will be free of cost, will bring together international groupings from Ghana, Suriname, Brazil and the CARICOM region, who have all been invited to participate .The Ministry of Culture,Scarpe Adidas Superstar Outlet, Youth and Sport will also be hosting exhibitions,Yeezy Scarpe Italia, conferences, lectures and other events. $32.6M was allocated by Government for the group activities.Minister of Culture,Scarpe Adidas Nmd r2, Dr. Frank Anthony recently said in Parliament that there will be an open competition for the design of a monument and a panel will evaluate the submissions, leading to the winning entry being built.He had also announced that there would be several exhibitions,Adidas Nmd r1 Scontate, throughout the year,Yeezy Scarpe Scontate, including a permanent one at the Museum of African Heritage and a mobile showcase that would be travelling to various communities.In addition,Cheap Air Max 90 Ireland, Anthony had said that prominent scholars would be engaged to deliver a series of lectures – a minimum of once per quarter this year, and a number of local conferences, the Victoria Commemorative among them, roundtables and a caucus of African cultural workers.The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 64/169 by consensus on December 18, 2009.The proclamation was made with the view of strengthening national actions and regional international co-operation for the benefit of people of African descent in relation to their full enjoyment of economic, cultural, social, civil and political rights.It also seeks to strengthen their participation and integration in all political, economic, social and cultural aspects of society and the promotion of greater knowledge of respect for the diverse heritage and culture of African descent people.
