…voir dire orderedMagistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul, who is presiding over the trial of the five men accused of robbing andDamien Millingtonterrorizing land court judge, Nicola Pierre,Discount Football Jerseys, and her husband, Mohamed Chand, has ruled that the court will commence a Voir Dire trial.This was revealed yesterday, when the matter continued in the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Courts. Magistrate Ally-Seepaul said that the court will embark on a voir dire (trial with a trial) to ascertain whether an oral confession and caution statement given by Damien Millington will be admitted into evidence. It will also determine if they were willingly or involuntarily given.According to the Magistrate, Prosecutor Nigel Hughes had led evidence that Millington made a verbal statement to police on July 16, 2015 at Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Eve Leary. The statement was read aloud in court by the Magistrate. But Millington denied ever doing so.The Magistrate then told Millington that the police are also alleging that he gave a caution statement and signed to it. However, Millington who is the number two defendant claimed that he was forced to sign the statement. The defendant was advised by the Magistrate that he has the right to call witnesses to support his case.The Voir Dire trial begins on Wednesday (February 24).Millington, 22, of Lot 118 Caesar Street, Agricola; Premnauth Samaroo; Nicholas Narine, 18,Cheap Jerseys USA, also of Caesar Street Agricola; Anthony David, 28 of 63 Hadfield Street, Stabroek and Warren Mc Kenzie,Cheap NFL Jerseys, 22 of Lot 18 Brutus Street,Supply Cheap Jerseys, Agricola; are jointly facing three charges, two for the offence of robbery under-arms committed on Pierre and her husband Mohamed Chand, and another for the offence of discharging a loaded firearm at security guard, Ron Peters.They have all pleaded not guilty to the charges and are currently on remand.Pierre, Chand and Peters have completed giving their testimonies. They have so far positively identified four of the defendants (Samaroo, Millington, Narine and McKenzie) as the ones who were part of the robbery/invasion that occurred on July 9, last in the gated community of Felicity, East Coast Demerara.According to reports, heavily-armed bandits inflicted a brutal beating on the Land Court Judge and her husband after overpowering on-duty Special Constable, Ron Peters before storming the couple’s home.The couple was attacked while asleep. The duo was gun-butted into unconsciousness after the men gained entry to their home via a window.The robbers carted off a small safe containing US$7,000,China NFL Jerseys, jewellery,Wholesale World Cup Jerseys, and a suitcase containing other valuables. But they were forced to drop their loot after coming under gunfire from a security guard who was stationed at a businessman’s home nearby. Pierre sustained a broken jaw and other injuries, while her husband received severe injuries to his right eye. He has since lost the eye.
