Roy Persaud, the reputed husband who was arrested for questioning in the death of 39- year- old Hansranee “Sharda” Sewdat of Number 48 Village, Corentyne was released on $200,000 station bail on Tuesday afternoon.He was detained at the Number 51 Police Station on Friday.Roy Persaud, a rice miller, and his eight-year-old daughter, Vishwanee,Maglia Juventus Vendita, after returning home from the back dam, discovered Sewdat dead in the home. Sewdat’s body was found with a small incision on her throat. The woman is of the opinion that whoever killed her stabbed her in the throat (hence the wound) and then slashed her throat to complete the act.“People a kill people and get off. Nobody won’t go into she house and do all them things and still they put him on bail,” she posited.She related the turbulent and abusive relationship the couple shared during the many years they lived together. “Them used to live in the house but live like dog and cat. He don’t like when her pickney go there; it is a problem,” she said.Both of them had children from previous marriages.Speaking further about the relationship between Persaud and Sewdat, Sagadawyan said that Persaud used to “ill-treat” her sister, and that she had stopped talking with the entire family shortly after she had started to live with Persaud, 12 years ago.“She take one big old man, but me ain’t throw away she. Two years, me sister didn’t talk with anybody,” she said.Although police have released the main suspect in the matter,Seconda Maglia Juve 2018/19, investigations are ongoing. Sewdat will be buried on Thursday at her home village of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice.
