PSC hoping to meet APNU’s youth arm tomorrowThe Private Sector Commission (PSC) is to meet tomorrow to discuss a call by the youth arm of A Partnership For National Unity (APNU) for a boycott of businesses which are aligned with the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C).Yesterday, PSC Chairman, Ramesh Dookhoo,NFL Jerseys Cheap, disclosed that the body which represents several sectors of the business community across the country, will attempt to meet with representatives of the Youth Coalition For Transformation.Over the past days, there was an increase in e-mail activities and messages of Facebook and other forums, aligned to APNU, calling for Guyanese to boycott 40-odd businesses that they have listed.On Friday, during a public meeting at Stabroek Market, prominent politicians of? the10-party coalition which contested the November 28 elections, named Hits and Jams Entertainment and Kashif and Shanghai, a management group which coordinates the now annual year end countrywide football tournament.The two businesses were said to be closely aligned with the ruling PPP/C and that boycotting them will pressure government to meet demands over the Statement of Polls (SOP) from the elections.Named also on the websites were Republic Bank,Wholesale China Jerseys, M&M Snackette,NFL Jerseys Supply, TransPacific Auto Sales and Spares, Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, SOL (Shell Petrol), Auto Supplies, Royal Castle Chicken, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI), DIDCO and KFC. Also listed in the businesses to be boycotted were Laparkan Group of Companies, NCN,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, Channel 14/65, Guyana Times, New Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (GPC), Buddy’s Pool Hall, Princess Hotel, Roraima Group of Companies (Gerry Gouveia), Roraima Airways, Roraima Lodge Hotel, Duke Lodge Hotel, Splashmins and MovieTowne (Trinidad).Since the results of the elections were announced last week, APNU has been claiming that there were irregularities in the process and wanted the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to provide the SOPs it used to tally the votes from the 2000-plus polling stations.However, GECOM provided scanned copies of the documents.Protestors from APNU clashed with police last week during what was described by authorities as an illegal march,Wholesale NFL Jerseys China, with several of them including senior party officials shot with rubber bullets.Police later said that the persons involved in the street marches were not granted permission.APNU was however granted permission on Friday.Yesterday, senior officials of the PPP/C said that the boycott calls were a slap in the face to businesses in Guyana who have invested heavily and are expecting returns for the Christmas season.“We don’t see that Guyanese, being the people they are, supporting such an irrational call during this season of goodwill.
