With three days remaining before the grand opening of Carifesta X in Guyana,NFL Jerseys Wholesale, the specially designed coin and stamp for the event were yesterday unveiled when President Bharrat Jagdeo and Minister of Culture,NFL Jerseys Wholesale, Youth and Sport,Jerseys NFL Cheap, Frank Anthony, received their copies of the souvenirs.Yesterday morning, Dr. Anthony accepted his tokens at the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC), while later in the day at the Office of the President, the Head of State received his collection.GPOC Chairman, Bishop Juan Edghill, told the president that the intent of the collection is not for persons to send mail with the stamps but instead they should be kept as souvenirs.“What we are seeking to do is revive the philately…the philatelic market internationally is a very powerful market…stamps are peculiar to a country because it tells about its history and its peoples,” Edghill said.On Monday,Josh Manson, the GPOC will be launching a philatelic exhibition, which will be hosted throughout Carifesta X.At that exhibition, the entity will also be launching the Sir James Douglas stamp in conjunction with the Canadian High Commission.Sir James Douglas is a Guyanese, who was the first Governor General of the British Colombia.Edghill urged that children purchase the stamps and start collecting the mementos since philately is quite a ‘great hobby’ that carries with it quite a lot of benefits in the future.The GPO, he added, is ‘trying to be efficient, modern and profitable at the same time.’In accepting the collection, President Jagdeo congratulated the GPOC for being a part of what he described as a ‘very exciting venture.’“This shows initiative on the part of the GPOC…I am sure that this will not only be on display…but will last in the memory of Guyana’s future generations to come,” the President said.At present, the GPOC is searching for copies of the 1972 stamps, which will be auctioned out once found.Meanwhile, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Guyana, Gobin Ganga, presented the President with one of the specially designed coins for Carifesta.The face value of the coin is $2000,Wholesale Football Jerseys, but according to Ganga, the intrinsic value is far exceeding that amount.The stamps can be purchased for $20, $55, $80 and $120 at the GPOC’s offices in Linden, New Amsterdam, Anna Regina and Parika.A special edition featuring the different stamps and the Coat of Arms can be purchased for $1000.
