At a meeting, yesterday, at the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Association (GGDMA) headquarters, North Road, Bourda,Wholesale China Jerseys, Georgetown,Wholesale Stitched Jerseys, the association announced that it is currently requesting a meeting with the President of Guyana, David Granger.The meeting will facilitate discussion of matters hindering the development of local miners in the State.According to Vice-President of the GGDMA,Cheap NFL Jerseys, Andron Alphonso, a request was made to meet the President some time ago. Another is the safety of miners operating in the interior. He added that the improvement of roads is vital, in order for miners to have easier access to new lands for mining operations.Alphonso stated that upgraded roads would not only benefit miners but also residents who live in those areas. He said that the association and stakeholders are aware of these safety issues and are cognizant of the increased number of fatalities and injuries in interior.The GGDMA representative said that the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) conducted a Mines Safety Symposium which will be extended to the miners. There has also been training for persons to operate machinery in the mining industry.The organisation reiterated that it will continue to address the issues and support the miners; but is seeking some consideration, since the gold and diamond mining industry is said to be the backbone of Guyana’s economy.
