We have received numerous complaints from sex workers and other women who allege constant abuse by police officers.”The nemesis of human trafficking further noted that as recent as last week, GWMO members returned from Mahdia where several complaints were made against the police. However, it does not seem to be the case in Mahdia as police officers are aware of numerous girls—some as young as 12—who are being used as sex workers and no one is being arrested.”Broomes added, “I am happy that in the release the force mentioned that I attended its 2014 Stakeholders Consultation Forum which I would only refer to as a ‘talk shop’. At that very forum I made a public offer to make a presentation to the force detailing our findings on its ranks working in the interior and revealing some of the allegations made against officer.“Acting Commissioner Seelall Persaud promised that he would have contacted me on the offer but to date no such contact has been made.”The GWMO President said that the training of police officers in the area of trafficking in persons is grossly lacking.
