Two steel-band groups tied for first place when the big guns came out in the large band category of the Republic Bank annual Mashramani Pan-o-rama Steel Band Competition which was held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall last evening.The event was witnessed by hundreds with six different categories of performers,? which included the school band performances, the junior soloists,Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys, duets, the church bands,Cheap China Jerseys Authentic, senior soloists and the large bands.The winners walked away with first place, second place and third place titles earning them the right to call themselves the best.Out of six schools,Wholesale Nike NFL Jerseys, a tie for second place commenced the announcement of the night’s winners with North Ruimveldt Multilateral School and Pan Wave Academy joining hands to take the second prize with 249 points while Queen’s College walked champions with 250 points.Third place in the junior soloist category was Don Johnson with 207,Cheap NFL Jerseys China, second place Raphel Nunes with 210 and to take it all was Michael Smith Jr. with 236 points after battling against six solo performers.Requiring teamwork and cohesiveness,Wholesale Jerseys China, the duet segment presented two winners. St Andrews got the crowd lifted before taking second place with 240 points. But the third place winners, St Andrews Assembly of God who accumulated 238 points had the crowd on their feet with their charismatic instructor who delivered a hilarious dance performance.Senior soloist winner Jovanka WilliamsThe senior soloists all performed original pieces and to take the title once again was reigning steelpan queen Jovanka Williams with 272 points. Ray Sparman captured second place with 249 points and Clayton Daniels took third place with 246.The large band category delivered the sauce on the night’s meat with the Guyana Police Force taking third place with 522 points. The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Steel Orchestra tied with Park Side Steel Orchestra for first place with 522 points.See details in tomorrow’s issue
